As a first-time mum, choosing a breast pump felt way more overwhelming than I expected.
There are so many options out there, all promising convenience, efficiency, and comfort, but in reality, what actually works can be very different depending on your situation.
I’ve been using both the Momcozy M6 Wearable Breast Pump and the Spectra S1 Breast Pump, and I wanted to share my honest experience in case you’re trying to decide between the two.
⸻
Why I Use a Breast Pump
Before I get into the comparison, a bit of context.
I’m not exclusively pumping, I mainly breastfeed and only use a pump to help maintain my milk supply when needed. This usually happens on days when my son feeds less than expected, like:
• During developmental changes
• After vaccinations
• Or when his feeding pattern is a bit off
So for me, having a pump that’s efficient when I do use it is really important.
⸻
Momcozy M6: Convenient, But Not Always Reliable
The biggest selling point of the Momcozy M6 is convenience.
It’s compact, completely wearable, and fits right inside your bra, which means you can pump while moving around, doing things around the house, or even out and about.
And honestly, that sounds amazing, especially as a busy mom, however in my experience, it didn’t quite live up to that promise.
I found it to be a bit temperamental. If I moved the wrong way or didn’t position it perfectly, the suction would drop or it just wouldn’t work as effectively.
The other issue for me was the suction strength.
After a feed, which is usually when I pump, I often found that I would only get a very small amount of milk, and sometimes nothing at all.
So while it wins on convenience, I personally struggled with consistency and output.

⸻
Spectra S1: Less Convenient, Much More Effective
The Spectra S1 is a very different experience.
It’s not wearable, you’re connected to a small portable machine, so you do need to sit in one place while pumping.
That said, the machine itself is still portable, and you can use a pumping bra to make the process hands-free, which does make things easier.
The real difference is the suction.
It’s significantly stronger and more efficient.
Even after feeding my baby, I can consistently get around 2-3 ounces of milk (total) which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to maintain your supply.
Another thing I really appreciate is it’s a closed system, which makes it more hygienic.

⸻
Convenience vs Efficiency: Which One Wins?
This really comes down to what you need.
•If you want something discreet and easy to use on the go, the Momcozy M6 is a great idea in theory and may work well for some moms.
• If your priority is actually getting consistent output and maintaining your supply, the Spectra S1 is, in my experience, the better choice.
As someone who only pumps occasionally but needs it to work when I do, I find myself reaching for the Spectra every time.
⸻
Final Thoughts
Every mom’s feeding journey is different, and what works for one person might not work for another.
But if you’re trying to decide between these two pumps, my honest takeaway is this:Convenience is great — but reliability matters more.
If you’re currently deciding between pumps or have tried either of these, I’d love to hear your experience 🤍
